Bio
I am from the American South, and moved around enough to feel at home in several places. I went to school there and joined my first technology startup, a move that began a career founded in curiosity. This led me to the West Coast. First Los Angeles, then San Francisco.
My academic roots are in art, history, sociology and statistics but I have been programming since I was twelve, mostly games and simulations. What started as a hobby later became a profession. Eventually, a passion for building things, more than just software, led me to start my own company.
I’ve stepped back from the intensity of startups and leading a company. I’m still in technology but at the intersection of business and engineering, in a role that lets me be creative without burning out.
My lifelong interests in art, history, society and technology have been evolving. Lately I am drawn to spirituality, philosophy, meditation, and the broader pursuit of self-improvement.
In my free time, you’ll find me cooking, reading, writing, drawing, going to live music, playing guitar, and hiking. I am happiest near water, whether walking on beaches, swimming in lakes, or floating down rivers. Sailing and snowboarding were once parts of my life and I look forward to rediscovering them as our son gets older.
I am more seeker than finder. But I have found treasures along the way and I take time to celebrate those.
One thing I celebrate is my family. I have a great sister, we’ve been through a lot. I’m the parent of a wonderful son with my partner in life. Together, we are on a journey of discovery with big plans for exploring the world and creating new things together.
